The Kitchen Display has no sound or goes to sleep
Updated October 2, 2026
A kitchen board is only useful if you notice new orders. These fixes cover the common problems.
No chime
- Make sure sound isn't muted with the mute button on the display.
- Tap anywhere on the screen once. Browsers only allow sound after you've interacted with the page.
- Check the tablet's volume and that it isn't in silent mode.
The screen goes to sleep
- Use the fullscreen toggle. The display then asks the device to stay awake.
- Keep the tablet plugged in.
- In the tablet's settings, set the screen timeout to the longest option.
Orders look stale
- Check the tablet's internet connection.
- Refresh the page. The display reloads your current orders.
- Make sure the tablet is signed in to the right café.
Tip: Use a dedicated tablet for the kitchen so it isn't interrupted by other apps.
