Takeaway, Dine in and Pay at counter
Updated October 2, 2026
At checkout, customers first choose Pickup or Delivery. For pickup they then choose Takeaway or Dine in.
Paying
For takeaway and dine-in, customers pick one of:
- Pay online, with a card, Apple Pay or Google Pay. This needs Square connected. See Connect Square.
- Pay at counter, which skips the card form. Customers get a short token number to show or say at pickup, and the order is held for one hour.
Delivery orders must be paid online, so they need Square connected.
Collect a pay-at-counter payment
- Open Orders and find the order by its token badge.
- When the customer pays at your register, open the order.
- Click Mark payment received. A confirmation appears.
Expired held orders
If an hour passes with no payment collected, the order's badge turns to an expired state so you can spot stale orders at a glance.
Note: There's no automatic charge for a pay-at-counter order, so nothing needs reversing if you cancel it.
Tip: If you haven't connected Square, checkout only offers Pay at counter for pickup, and delivery can't be paid for. Connect Square to unlock card payments.
