Connect Square
Updated October 2, 2026
Connecting Square lets customers pay by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay at checkout. Deposits go straight to your Square account.
Before you start
You need a Square account for your business, and you need to be able to sign in to it. Your business must be in a country Square supports for card processing.
Connect
- Open Integrations in the sidebar.
- On the Square card, click Connect.
- You're taken to Square's own sign-in and consent screen.
- Sign in to Square and approve the connection. Your Square password never passes through our portal.
- You're sent back to the Integrations page with a Square connected message.
Check it worked
The Square card now shows Production connected, along with your Merchant and Location IDs and whether a Terminal is paired. Place a small test order to confirm card payment appears at checkout. See Place a test order.
What connecting unlocks
- Card, Apple Pay and Google Pay at checkout.
- Paying for delivery orders. Delivery is paid online, so Square needs to be connected even if Uber Direct is too.
- Refunds back to the customer's card. See How refunds work.
- Charging walk-in orders on a Terminal.
If you cancel on Square's screen
You'll return to the portal with a "Square connection cancelled" message. Nothing was changed. Click Connect to try again.
Disconnect
Click Disconnect on the same card at any time. Customers will then only be able to choose Pay at counter.
Note: Menu and catalog syncing with Square isn't available yet. Connecting today is for payments and Terminal use.
If it doesn't work, see Square connection problems.
