Drag cards and use the keyboard
Updated October 4, 2026
The Kitchen Display can be worked by touch, mouse or keyboard, whichever is quickest at your counter.
Drag an order
Press and drag an order card into another column. Drop it on New, Preparing or Ready to move it there, forwards or back. While you drag, a Drop here to complete area appears at the bottom of the screen. Drop a card on it to finish the order. You can also use the big button on each card instead of dragging.
On a touchscreen, press and hold a card for a moment until it lifts, then drag. A quick swipe still scrolls the board, and tapping an item or button works as usual. If you move an order by mistake, tap Undo in the message that appears.
Use the keyboard
Select an order with the arrow keys, then act on it. Press ? on the Kitchen Display to see this list at any time.
- Up and Down arrows, or K and J: select the previous or next order.
- Left and Right arrows: jump to another column.
- Enter or Space: move the selected order along (start, ready, complete).
- 1 to 9: cross off, or put back, that numbered item on the selected order.
- P: prioritize the selected order, or remove the flag.
- T and L: print the ticket or the labels.
- B, A, S: switch to Board, All-day or Stats.
- M: mute or unmute the new order sound.
- F: fullscreen on or off.
- Esc: clear the selection.
Tip: A keyboard with big keys, or a USB bump bar set up to press Enter and the arrow keys, makes the line quicker on a busy shift.
