Add many menu items at once with a spreadsheet

Updated October 11, 2026

Instead of adding items one at a time, you can upload a whole menu from a spreadsheet. You check everything before anything is added.

Step by step

  1. Go to Menu and select Bulk upload.
  2. Download the template. It's a CSV file with the column headings already filled in.
  3. Open it in Excel or Google Sheets and fill in one row per item. Leave the headings row as it is.
  4. Save it as a CSV and upload it.
  5. On the Check your columns screen, make sure each Awwranges field is matched to the right column in your file. We match them for you using your headings, and you can change any that are wrong.
  6. Read the preview, then select Add items to my menu.

The columns

  • Category, Item name and Price are required. A category that isn't on your menu yet is created for you.
  • Description is optional, up to 200 characters. Item names can be up to 60.
  • Food type is Veg, Non-veg or Egg. If you leave it empty, the item shows as Veg.
  • Dietary tags takes up to two of: Veg, Vegan, Gluten Free, Dairy Free, Nut Free, Eggless, Spicy. Separate them with a semicolon.
  • Allergens takes any of: Milk, Eggs, Fish, Shellfish, Tree nuts, Peanuts, Wheat, Soy, Sesame. Separate them with a semicolon.
  • Available is Yes or No. If you leave it empty, it counts as Yes.

What the preview tells you

  • Ready to add: these rows will be added.
  • Already on your menu, skipped: an item with the same name in the same category already exists. Uploads never change or replace items you already have.
  • Need fixing, left out: the preview shows the row number and what's wrong, such as a missing price. Fix the row in your spreadsheet and upload the file again.

After you confirm

The items are added to your menu straight away, and we email you a short summary at the address you sign in with. Items from a spreadsheet have no photo yet, so open each one to add a photo. Then publish to put them on your live site.

Good to know

  • One upload can hold up to 500 rows, in a file under 2 MB.
  • Item customizations (like milk or size choices) aren't part of the spreadsheet. Add those to an item after uploading.
  • Select Export my current menu in the same window to download your menu in this same format, which is also a handy backup.

Tip: In Excel, choose Save As, then CSV UTF-8, so accented letters in dish names come through correctly.
