Take a walk-in or phone order
Updated October 2, 2026
Most orders come from your website, but customers also order at the counter or by phone. Keying those in means your kitchen, receipts and reports include everything.
Create the order
- Open Orders and click New order.
- In the panel that opens, pick items from your live menu.
- Enter the Customer name. Add a Phone and Notes if you want to.
- Create the order. A confirmation appears.
What to expect
- A manual order is always takeaway.
- It's marked paid immediately, because the money already changed hands at the register. This records the sale, it doesn't charge anything.
- It appears on the Kitchen Display like any other order.
Print a receipt
The confirmation after creating the order offers Print receipt right away.
Charge a card on a Terminal
If you've paired a Square Terminal, you can send the order to it so the customer pays by card, instead of marking it paid manually. See Pair a Square Terminal.
Tip: Always add a phone number if you can. It makes the customer show up in your Customers page and earns them loyalty stamps.
