Quick-86 an item
Updated October 2, 2026
"86" is kitchen slang for "we're out of this". Mark an item sold out in a couple of taps, without leaving the Orders page.
From the Orders page
- Open Orders.
- In the Online Ordering panel, find the item. Items are pulled from your menu.
- Turn its switch off. A confirmation appears.
- Click Publish so customers stop seeing it as orderable.
From the New order panel
While keying in a walk-in order, each item in the picker has a small button to mark it unavailable straight away.
From your phone
The Menu tab of the phone view has a switch for each item. See Use the portal on your phone.
What happens to the item
The item stays visible on your public menu but shows as sold out and can't be added to a cart. It's the same Available for ordering switch described in Add and organize menu items. Turn it back on when you restock.
Warning: Sold-out changes reach your live site when you publish. If you're away from a computer, do the change on a tablet and publish before service.
