Write a hero headline that works
Updated October 2, 2026
The hero is the first thing visitors see. A clear headline and one obvious button are all it needs.
Edit the hero
- Open the Website editor and expand the Hero section.
- Edit the eyebrow, headline and subtext.
- Set the labels of the primary and secondary buttons.
- Upload a hero image.
- Check the preview, then publish.
Pick a headline animation
The hero offers optional headline effects, such as Text Animate, Typing, Line Shadow, Aurora, Hyper Text and Text 3D Flip. Choose None for a plain headline. Effects suit short headlines best.
Write a better headline
- Say what you are and where: "Wood-fired pizza in Brooklyn".
- Lead with what makes you different, not just your name.
- Keep it under about eight words.
- Make the primary button an action: "Order online".
Tip: Test your hero on the phone preview. If the headline wraps onto four lines, shorten it.
